Bamboo Akari (Bamboo Lights) - Delray Beach

Stroll around the gardens at Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach and then go inside the old building, Yamato-kan (modeled after a Japanese Villa) to see the “Take Akari: Bamboo Lights.” The beautiful bamboo light installations created by artist Akihiro Mashimo, Bamboo craftsman (assisted by two assistant bamboo craftsmen) were started with the intention of enlightening people about the critical need for maintaining bamboo forests and educating the community about this important natural resource used in their daily lives. Check the website for entrance fee information. The museum is open 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Tuesdays-Sundays. The museum is closed on Mondays and holidays.
