Register your 4-year-old for voluntary prekindergarten (Psst, it's free!)

Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) is a free program designed to prepare 4-year-old children for kindergarten and build the foundation for their educational success.

It's available to all 4-year-old Floridians born on or before Sept. 1, regardless of family income. Four-year-olds with birthdays from Feb. 2 through Sept. 1 are eligible to enroll in the program that year or postpone it to the next.

Participants receive 540 instructional hours in a school-year program in classes limited to 20 students, or 300 hours in classes limited to 12 students. See the list of required documents required to complete your application.

Families can register online or in person via the Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County's self-service kiosks within community-based locations in Riviera Beach, Palm Springs and Belle Glade.

This is a great opportunity for 4-year-olds (or 5-year-olds, if they have not already begun attending kindergarten) to get ready academically, socially and emotionally for kindergarten. And it's FREE!
