A: The most common symptom is itchy hands and feet.

A: Cholestasis is a serious condition that needs to be diagnosed and treated by a doctor. Home remedies are not a solution.
Q: Who is at risk?
A: Cholestasis is common among Hispanic women. Those who have a history of liver problems or whose mother or sisters had it may also be at higher risk.
Q: How can a baby be affected?
A: Cholestasis can affect a baby's heart rhythm and the amount of oxygen a they receive. It can cause preterm birth (a baby who is born too early) or a stillbirth (a baby who is born dead).
