Making sure you and your baby are healthy means getting medical care throughout your pregnancy. The good news for Palm Beach County families is that you have an amazing resource — Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County. They are here to help you get the prenatal care you need.

There are several insurance options for local families based on eligibility:

• Private insurance — Many families have insurance plans that cover prenatal and/or maternity care through their jobs, schools or families. Contact customer service of the insurance provider to learn what costs they will cover and what you may have to pay.

• Medicaid for pregnancy — The state Agency for Health Care Administration oversees Medicaid services in Florida and is funded by the state and federal governments. The Medicaid application is available online and Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County is ready to assist you with the form and getting coverage as quickly as possible.

• The Maternity Care Program of the Health Care District of Palm Beach County  ---This program offers coverage to uninsured, lower-income moms-to-be who are ineligible for Medicaid, but need financial assistance. The program provides health care coverage for up to 10 months. To reach the Maternity Care Program, call 1-866-930-0035.

If you need help sorting through these options, call Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County for advice at 561-623-2800.
