Voluntary Prekindergarten, also known as VPK, is a free program in Florida that prepares 4-year-olds for kindergarten and builds the foundation for their educational success.

VPK is available to all 4-year-old Florida residents born on or before Sept. 1, regardless of family income. Four-year-olds with birthdays from Feb. 2 through Sept. 1 are eligible to enroll in the program that year or postpone it to the next. A summer program is available as well.

Many local schools, child care providers and other organizations offer Voluntary Prekindergarten programs, or VPK, to children in Palm Beach County. The program is overseen locally by the Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County (ELC). You can reach ELC at 561-514-3300.

For more articles and videos about the benefits of VPK and how to sign up, and to hear from parents directly whose children have participated in the program, visit: EveryParentPBC.org/VPK.
